Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review
When I decided that I was going to use cloth diapers for Squishy (a couple months before he was born), I was overwhelmed with how expensive it was up front. I knew the benefits of buying and using cloth diapers surpassed this small problem, so I was in search of high-quality cloth diapers that were affordable. My search didn’t lead to any great results until after I purchased my first batch of cloth diapers…big mistake. I spent well over $400 on cloth diapers a month before Squishy was born. Had I known about GlowBugs affordable, high quality cloth diapers, I would’ve saved even more money in the long run. Granted, I did sell half of my stash within the first couple months of Squishy’s life, however learning about this company would’ve made cloth diapering even easier.
Glow Bug Cloth Diapers offers amazing pocket diapers (my favorite kind!) that come in a variety of cool prints- all at an affordable price. Glow Bug diapers are sold in packages of 12 and you can choose from girl prints, boy prints, gender neutral prints, and colors. Each Glow Bug diaper includes 2 absorbent snap-in inserts, and each set of 12 diapers are packaged with a free wet bag. So, you are getting 12 diapers, 24 inserts, and a wet bag- all for $150. That’s less than $13 per diaper! Way cheaper than what I originally paid for diapers of lesser quality.
Up for review, I received a Glow Bug pocket diaper in an orange and blue retro squares print. My favorite feature of this diaper is the size setting. There are 4 sizes so this diaper will fit a baby from 7lbs to 35lbs, and I believe that this diaper would’ve fit Squishy perfectly when he was a newborn, as opposed to other cloth diapers that fit when he was around 9-11lbs at the smallest setting. The diaper also features two sets of cross-over snaps through the waist band for a perfect fit around newborn tummies. The double rows of snaps with square tabs allows the diaper to have a trim fit around baby’s hip. This diaper fits Squishy so perfectly and it is actually a very trim diaper compared to other ones in my cloth diaper stash.
Another favorite feature of mine is the pocket openings at both ends. This makes it easier to stuff the diaper, especially if I am in a rush, and also makes it easier to unstuff the diapers because I don’t have to! Because there is an opening on both ends of the pocket, I can just toss the diaper in the diaper pail and then when it goes into the washer, the insert comes out on its own. I never have to worry about un-stuffing this diaper, which makes cloth diapering with Glow Bug worry-free! The snap-in inserts keep the inserts in place while Squishy’s on the move, so I never have to readjust it. The SlimDry fabric keeps his skin dry without the extra bulk, and the double gussets through the leg provide an extra barrier of protection against leaks. Squishy has never leaked in this diaper, and we absolutely love it.
Buy It:
Glow Bug Cloth Diapers retail for $150 for a pack of 12 diapers and 24 inserts.
Disclosure: I received the above mentioned product(s), free of charge, for reviewing purposes. Regardless, all opinions are my own and may differ from yours.

December 22, 2011 at 11:22 am (520 days ago)Salaam,
What a nice little blog you have here. Wow, I am thoroughly impressed that at barely 20 you are doing such a great job at mothering and a part time student. My husband and I, who are much older and wiser at 30 (Hah! At least I like to think that) have a hard time keeping it together between working and taking care of our 18 month old. Kudos to you!
P.S. I think pocket diapers are the best kind of cloth diapers too!

December 25, 2011 at 11:08 pm (516 days ago)I love these diapers… The pocket on both ends is great and I really love the water proof fabric on the tummy to keep away those tummy leaks during naps! We have a tummy sleeper :)

December 27, 2011 at 3:05 pm (515 days ago)The frustrating thing [to me] about Glow bug diapers is that you have to buy them in packages of 12. You can’t buy them individually.

December 28, 2011 at 11:22 am (514 days ago)It’s great that these cloth diapers are so affordable and from your review they seem to be good quality. So many other diapers are SO expensive. Although this is a big investment upfront. I’m just getting started in cloth diapering so it’ll take me a while before I can save enough to buy even these cheap diapers.

December 28, 2011 at 12:32 pm (514 days ago)I like the dipes with the inner leg gussets! The package is nice, but I would want to try a single one before committing to 12 of them! And I would want to pick my colors, its a bummer that they’re out of production until Feb too.
