Review and Giveaway: Incredibum Cloth Diaper from Sandbox Lane! (US) Ends 11/26

Up for review, I received an Incredibum Cloth Diaper in Sunshine. Incredibum is one of the newer brands of cloth diapers in the market, having been released on October 1st of this year. It is an all-in-1 bamboo diaper that is an easy alternative for pocket diapers. I was really excited to try this diaper with Squishy because bamboo diapers are becoming our favorite. The Incredibum cloth diaper features 13 waist snaps- the most snaps I’ve ever seen on a cloth diaper’s waist- 3 rise settings, and 2 hip snaps on each side. This particular snap structure is unlike anything I’ve seen on other brands of cloth diapers. The large amount of waist snaps allows for a really good fit (up to 40lbs) so there are no missing in-between sizes like I find on other diapers. While I love the extended amount of waist sizes with this diaper, I will admit that I get overwhelmed with the amount of snaps at times. Because there are so many waist snaps, 13 to your average 8-10, I do get confused with snapping the tabs correctly, especially since Squishy is becoming very squirmy during changes. I think the waist snaps can be a bit overwhelming for parents that are new to cloth diapers, or others in the household that change the baby sometimes (grandma, dad, babysitter). However, If you are not new to cloth, then I’m sure you will love the extended waist size that this diaper provides.

One of my favorite features of this diaper is the identical tabs! I have never seen identical tabs on any other cloth diaper I’ve tried, and it has always been a feature that I wished a cloth diaper company would do. These tabs are very long compared to other cloth diapers, and I really like that. The length allows you to get a great fit around your baby’s waist. The tabs have 3 snaps that are used to snap across baby’s waist. Like I mentioned before, it can be confusing at times, and in fact I often forget to snap one of the snaps and usually only snap 2. The great thing about these tabs though is that because they are identical they both have the cross-over feature. So, no matter which tab you choose to snap down first, the other tab can fit/cross-over just as well as if you started with the other tab. When I’m using other cloth diapers, often times I will snap the tab that does not have the cross-over feature first, and then when I snap the other tab and realize it does not fit properly I have to un-snap the first one and then re-snap the tabs. It can become very irritating. With the Incredibum, you don’t have to worry about remembering which tab to snap down first if you are in a hurry like me, trying to change a squirmy baby. Both tabs have the cross-over feature, so you are good to go the first time.

The Incredibum cloth diaper comes with 2 inserts (large and small) that are made of bamboo (67%), cotton (23%), and polyester (10%). The outer shell of the diaper is made up of 100% polyester, TPU waterproof coating, and Micro-fleece lining. Both of the inserts have snaps on them so you can snap them to the diaper. The small insert can also be snapped onto the larger one, so you can use it as a doubler for nighttime if you wish.

Because Squishy is a heavy wetter, I like to use both inserts together. First, I snap the larger insert to the diaper and then I fold it so it can fit him properly (photo1), then I snap the smaller insert to the first and it lies ontop of the folded insert underneath perfectly (photo2). The final result is layers among layers of absorbency that do a fantastic job during nighttime and naps. During the day, I just use the smaller insert snapped into the diaper and it works great. I’ve never had a problem with leaks with the Incredibum, and I love that.

One thing that I don’t like so much about the Incredibum is that the front of the diaper (waist) has elastic in addition to the back having elastic. At first, I thought that this would be a great feature because it could potentionally give your baby a better fit, but then when I thought about it, that’s what the wasit snaps are for in my opinion. After trying the diaper with Squishy, I noticed that because the waist has the front elastic the diaper folds in at the waist because Squishy is small. This hasn’t caused him to get red marks or anything, but it just makes the diaper look weird sometimes underneath the tabs.

Here’s Squishy in his Incredibum diaper. I think it fits him great! I never have any problems with him getting red marks with the Incredibum, which is always a plus. I love how gentle the elastic is around his legs and waist and it allows him to move freely without any restrictions. I think this diaper is trim, but it also gives him that fluffy bum that most cloth diapers do. The Incredibum fits nicely under his clothes and I don’t find myself dressing him in a larger size when he’s wearing this diaper, another plus. Overall, we like the Incredibum and it is definitely one of our go-to diapers during nighttime.
